The Concept of Art
It is the natural instinct of mankind
to draw, to make patterns and
therefore create works of art.
Art is an expression, a communication
of ideas and emotions. It´s a way of
exploring, nature and life and
appreciating it for what it is. This
is the art of imitation. Studying a
subject and using art to communicate
what it is, what you have seen and
what has happened. The art of
imitation evolves in to the art of
representation. An expression as you
the individual sees and recognises
your subject or your idealisation,
questioning what it actually means to
you.

The question is how can we evaluate
the beauty of art, when there are no
guidelines as to what beauty
represents. Beauty is an ideal but
what is the standard? An idea of
beauty could be regarded as another´s
idea of revulsion.
Art can be critiqued taking into
consideration many things. The
colours,the lines, the design
principles  balance and proportion
and the medium to name but a few.
However, between the generations,
person to person and as developing
individuals, our tastes, ideas and
temperaments are diverse. Art is
subjective, it means something
different to each individual. What is
the justification of deeming art
beautiful or indeed ugly, after all
there is no universal standard of
either. It is we as individuals that
deem what is worthy of our
admiration. What is someones love is
another's hate.
